A trauma wound is a break through the full thickness of the skin from sudden injury after accidents or violence. This type of wound includes abrasions, lacerations, skin tears, bites, burns and penetrating trauma wounds.

A burn is an injury to the skin or organic tissue caused by heat or due to radiation, radioactivity, electricity, friction or contact with chemicals. Thermal burn occurs when tissue is damaged by hot liquids, hot solids or flames.

RISK FACTORS

- Alcohol use

- Strenuous activities

- Hazardous occupation

 

TREATMENT

- Burn cream and ointment for burns i.e. Silvadene

- Intravenous fluids

- Tetanus shots

- Wound dressings
